Capturing Comets

Comets are fascinating, but I find them hard to process. Because they move across the sky at a speed different to background stars, you have to really work hard on processing them so that they don't end up looking smeared, or the background stars themselves don't end up looking smeared. Software is supposed to help (like "Comet Mode" in deep Sky Stacker), but I always seem to struggle with it. We've had a few decent comets over recent years, so here are a few of my captures.

Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon (November, 2025)

Comet Neowise and Meteor (July 2020)

Comet Lulin (November, 2009)

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) (October 2024)

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) (October 2024)
