This was taken at Cape Schanck Lighthouse, on the Mornington Peninsula, southeast of Melbourne. In the early Spring, the Milky Way lies right overhead when viewed from Australia, and if you find the right foreground object, like this historic lighthouse, it makes for a killer shot!
The lighthouse itself has paned, glass windows separated by wide~ish bars or beams, so a single photo can show what appears to be several light rays when in fact it's just a single, rotating ray or beam.
- Canon EOS R
- Samyang 12mm F1.8
- Single 25 second exposure
- Processed in PixInsight and Lightroom.
